Kanpai sushi is a must visit for any sushi lovers' journey into Edinburgh! The atmosphere and restaurant aesthetic are very authentically Japanese, it's small and cozy in size and you can also experience live cooking from the chefs. The waiting staff were really attentive and precise when serving us, always helpful, topping up water and taking things away quickly. We ordered several bits of sushi, prawn tempura and teppanyaki salmon. Each dish was absolutely deliciously fresh, well presented and came out quickly. Finally the pricing of the food was very fair, 6 dishes and 2 Pepsi came to 71 pounds which is excellent for the quality of food. I had no hesitation giving a tip for the service this restaurant offers. It's a no brainer coming back again some day!

We stopped here for dinner and were able to get a seat. If it is a busy time, you may want to make reservations ahead. I ordered a beer as my son got a cider. We should have gotten sake, but couldn’t decide which one as there were so many choices. Menu book was a bit of a struggle to review due to the stiff pages. There were color photos on the pages to help see what you will get. The available selections were what you would expect for a sushi restaurant with some unique items. The expectations stopped there as the sushi was excellent. The Dragon Roll had something different in a good way from what I normally taste. The Spicy Tuna was Bluefin and it melted in your mouth (outside the rice part). My son noted the same excellence in ingredients as I did. We recommend going here if you are interested in sushi. Only weird thing was that they actually had a tip screen before final payment (?).

Nothing short of beautiful is enough to describe this place. From service to food, it created an unforgettable experience. The food is fresh and huge in variety, I wanted to try it all and it'll be my first thought when I return to Edinburgh.

Food was absolutely phenomenal! Everything was so fresh and we didn't get the prawn tempura but seen loads of people order it and they are massive pieces! Slightly pricier than other sushi places in Edinburgh but it was absolutely worth it! Service was great, staff were really nice not a drinker but they do have a wee bar at the back from what I saw when looking for the toilet, the atmosphere is really nice, some private tables to the side as well. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience at Kanpai. The food was phenomenal. The service was exceptional. Despite being busy, the staff were very attentive. If you love Japanese food I would highly recommend and I would definitely go back. A bit pricier than your average restaurant but absolutely worth it & more!

The best sushi in Scotland—fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable! Impeccable service and a fantastic atmosphere.

This is my current favourite sushi restaurant in Edinburgh. I have been twice and both times have been impressed by the quality, the ambience, the taste and the service. My top favourite dishes I would recommend: - the chicken and veg gyozas - the crispy lotus - the spice tuna maki

My partner and I love our sushi, so we looked forward to coming here, and it was fantastic! All the sushi was absolutely delicious. I loved the spicy one, and the best was the bluefin tuna belly with truffle! It all tasted so fresh, and it is definitely one of the best sushi places I have eaten at. My criticism is that every dish we ordered came out one by one, which was communicated to us at the beginning. We would have preferred everything coming out at once. The service was very slow as well. However, the sushi made up for it! Recommend this place for sushi lovers!
